Des nouvelles du label qui monte qui monte, le Club Cheval.

Les quatre fantastiques de l'électro (Sam Tiba, Canblaster, Myd et Jean, homme de l'ombre), cheveux au vent, n'en finissent pas de nous combler avec les tracks qui vont bien. Ca devient une habitude, et ca tombe bien !

Aujourd'hui, c'est Quentin alias Myd, qui nous rince avec une track assez folle (d'ores et déjà survalidée), une sorte de kuduro housey bien fouillé... plein de ces petits détails succulents dont je raffole.

Ce qui nous prouve que le gars n'est pas que le clavier de Sexual Earthquake In Kobe, que l'auteur d'une track jouée par les plus gros deejays du moment (Train To Bamako, qui sortira sous peu en maxi, avec des remixes plus savoureux les uns que les autres), mais aussi (peut-être, voir surtout) un des producteurs les plus doués et prometteurs de sa génération, et qu'on a pas fini d'entendre parler de lui !

I Also own a record label called 'Dandy Kid Records' with my partner in crime "Slade' aka "Defunct".

How did you came into house music, and when did you started making your own music?

I've always been into music, i use to do a lot of music photography for the Basement Jaxx, the prodigy and big club brands like Ministry of Sound and thought after a while that i'd love to start making beats and bad basslines ! i started about 2 years ago making beats with Trevor Loveys and Jon (HiJack) and it grow from there.

How did you start to create your own Label?

Dandy Kid records was started by myself and Slade as a platform to put out good party music, we wanted to experiment with different sounds and sign up new interesting artist like 'Camel', 'Duncstep' and 'Jeff Doublu', just to name a few.

Your latest Release Puss Puss Cous Cous is a Bomb , Really Liked "For what" and was wondering what inspired you , for this track?

"Puss Puss Cous Cous", is my latest EP, i wanted to have a nice mixture of original tracks and a wide selection of mixes, for example we have a Drum & Bass remix by DJ Deep & Shafie, Geoff K has kindly pumped to massive old skol garage house tracks !
"for What" is my new style, i'm experimenting with different sounds and exploring new genres, i'm trying to move away from my original 'Fidget' style. Over the next few months i'm gonna be working on more tracks this style. Keep your eyes out for "New York", it's an extension of "For What".

Which Artist changed your perception of music?

Dave Taylor, Trevor Loveys and The basement Jaxx are my idols, i get most of my inspiration from them. I have been very lucky to get shown the ropes and how to make music by Trevor Loveys, i've learnt a great deal from the man !!! BIG UP MR LOVEYS !!!

What is the venue you would like to dj at?

Space ! Ibiza ! its FUCKING AMAZING !!!

What is you're favorite track @ the moment?

LOL - "anything on Dandy Kid Records" !!!

Where can you see yourself in 2 years?

I hope i'll be traveling the world, meeting some amazing people and making 'Dandy kid Records" one of the best labels out there !!

T/ So first of all If you guys could Introduce yourselfs.

Daniel : Hey we are the Wildecker Herzuben from Wildeck, Nord-Rhein Westfahlen.

Alex : No, serious, we are the Acidkids from Germany, a part of us lives in Bavaria, Topper Harley and Alex akaX van Haag and Daniel Dexter lives in Berlin.

T/ When did you start making music, and what were your influences ?

The 3 : We Have Been Dj'ing for ten years now,but the music for ages!

Daniel : My Influences come from Velvet Underground ,David Bowie,Kraftwerk,Gigolo Records , Beastie Boys & The Pet Shop Boys ... a wild bunch of different People !!

Topper : My roots are definitely between The Prodigy and Jean Michelle Jarre.

Alex : I'm an old school Hip-Hop freak.

T/ You're latest release Mad Mahoney is an filthy rave banger, really liked the Ep. Are you planning to release some new stuff soon ?

Daniel : Yes, there will be coming a lot of new fantastic stuff.In September we have the secon single on our new founded Acid Kid Records. The release is called Mitch , with fabolous remixes from Felix Cartal ,The Emperor Machine & Fukkk Offf.

Alex : We are working also very hard on our first Album, we finished already Tracks with Marina of Ex-Bonde do Role and Wendy James, the Icon of the 80’s ,from the band Transvision Vamp. I think we can release it in Spring 2010.

Topper : We also finished some remixes for DIM MAK records, Malente & Azzido da Bass, Act Yo Age...

T/ How do you feel about Germany's scene nowadays ?

Daniel : I think it's the perfect place to be at the moment. You can find everything here , there are some major artistic movements in art and music , especially in Berlin.

T/ If there was an artist to work with ,who would it be ?

Daniel : The Beatles, Daft Punk, Missy Elliot, Nelly Furtado...There are a lot of great artists !

T/ What was the venue where you dj'd that maked you guys crazy ?

Topper : There were so many ! The Razzmatazz in Barcelona is great but also in your country as the Social Club & Club NME in Paris.

Alex : Springfestival this year was awesome, also the Dim Mak Party in Los Angeles. In Germany we love to play at the Registratur, at Coop Partys in Berlin, Neidklub in Hamburg and at our own Residency in Ingolstadt.

A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Philadelphia-based Nola bounce DJ, Emynd (Crossfaded Bacon/Unruly/Flaming Hotz/US) from Philladelphia, who asked me if I could find some decks in a friendly club while he was town...

I decided at that moment I should organize a gig with friends. In addition to the Club Music godfather, we're bringing together sum tropical Belgian flavor via our mates from the MDD Party Crew as well as the legendary Baltimore club sounds of O.G. Bulldog (ClekClekBoom/Dressed To Sweat/FR) who is joining us with his homie Tommy Kid (Chateau Lateuf/Club Bass & Wine/FR)

Oui, je poste un morceau fidget. Non je ne suis pas malade, non je n'ai pas vendu mon âme au diable du poing en l'air ni au Lucifer de la disto véner.

La première mixtape mensuelle WEIRD SCIENCE est dispo!

Signée French Fries, serial-killer des platines, qui a mis à genoux tout Paris en moins d'un an...Actif sur divers projets, cet ex-résident de la Favela Chic est aujourd'hui soutenu par Street-Tease (compilation Laptop), Clek Clek Boom (net-label franco brésilien qui distribue ses tracks), Make Some Noize (résident de la soirée avec Riot Kid et Lazy Flow) et de nombreux projets annoncés avec Young Gunz, son premier label...

Ce jeune talent est un surdoué, aussi à l'aise derrière ses cdj qu'en studio, où il compose avec une facilité déconcertante, le genre de mec qui te donne envie de prendre tout ton matos et de lui éclater en pleine tête... Pour finir par secouer ton corps sur ses "gros tracks fidget", selon ses propres termes. Extrêmement bien ficelées, ses productions et remixes étonnent surtout par leur maturité... surtout lorsqu'on sait que French Fries est agé de seulement 17 ans...

Un potentiel énorme que beaucoup de djs et clubs ont d'ores et déjà sû remarquer. Tout d'abord le tout nouveau mix de Raph, "No more Fidget, please":

RAPH’S “NO MORE FIDGET, PLEASE” MIX – MAY 09 (72MB – 1h18min)

Selon ses propres dires: "on aime bien faire du poing mais pas pendant toute la soirée, où pire, pendant toute la soirée à toutes les soirées.. on aime aussi danser, avec quand même, il faut l’avouer, un stricte minimum de sons un peu fous…" Voilà qui caractérise parfaitement ce mix tout en subtilités.

My geek way-of-life got lots benefits!

Like being synchronized with Chicago, Illinois! Was checking Facebook's home page, then i saw veteran Chicago deejay Gant-Man's link to this timeless mix...

As big fan (and download addict), i downloaded it straight, and tought that's exactly we need in these early summer days...fully loaded of classics & fresh! Now you just have to copy that on a tape or cd for your car rides and put the volume up!

Gant Garrard aka Gant-Man is known for jukin' tha box and juking tracks. Been mixing and blending records professionally since the tender age of 10. He got his debut on a college radio station on the south side of Chicago called WKKC where he mixed there every Saturday for 30 mins. from 1989 until 1997. Gant started professionally producing house music and juke tracks in 1994 before Chicago was calling this sound ghetto house music!

Gant released his first official mixtape in 1994 (and sold at least 1500 on the streets and local stores) and his first solo EP on Dance Mania records in 1995 at the age of 16.

After been charted by Rico Tubbs, released few remix for labels such as Idiot House or RuNT Recording, finished more than a dozen of tracks and remixes for artists like Mightyfools, Nathan Boon or Gigi Barocco, and been booked to play at a big festival this summer with The Bloody Beetroots, Yuksek & Brodinski, I decided to make some new (but unofficicial) remixes for some remix contests. So the three remixes you’ll find in this mail are the result of the three contests I selected.

The First one is an AC Slater’s remix of his amazing dubstep track « Hello ». This mix combines big bassline and melodic breaks. It is not really far from the original mix, but it’s almost if I transformed this dubstep track in a fidget one.

The second one is a remix of the top sellers « AA-247 » from Dance Area. I made this remix in a Jesse Rose’s style with a small touch of african beats in the first break.

The last one is a remix of the Warehouse’s Boss, Lee Mortimer, and one of his latest track « This is Real Shit ». The two breaks of this remix are made around tango samples and the main part of this mix is made around a huge herve’s like bassline.

LETRON : the soundtrack of a crazy life

LETRON a.k.a. Liana Piper, was raised on a small farm in northern Illinois.

Born into a musical family, LETRON's childhood was filled with music, live concerts, and a variety of instruments.

After just a year of college, she packed up her belongings and moved to Los Angeles where she introduced her unique sound to the folk scene under various names such as "Piper the Goon" + "Sniper Piper."

After five years of dive bars and coffee shops with her keyboard, guitar, and sometimes, an accordion, Piper the Goon was ready for bigger and better things.

She started the short-lived 2 piece piano-rock band "Blacky Lotus" with her older brother Noah on drums.

A few months after the end of "Blacky Lotus," this girl-next-door began to seriously channel her energy into perfecting her Art : she bought a MacBook. By recording, mixing, and editing her own music, "Piper the Goon" gradually transformed into the artist she is today, focusing on electronic beats, hardcore synth, and melodical raps.

Mimicking a nick name given to her a friend, she began performing under the alias "LETRON", and continues to rock the underground scene in Los Angeles.

Thomas Bangalter is back!

Je pense que le retour, bien que bref, de l'un des Daft Punk pour un set exclusif et, qui plus est, à visage découvert, mérite amplement son article!

En effet, on a pu voir Thomas Bangalter prendre les platines lors de l'anniversaire de Busy P (aka Pedro Winter, ancien manager des Daft Punk et fondateur de Ed Banger Records).

Lors de ce set express, on a pu voir Bangalter, entouré du Ed Banger Crew, jouer 3 titres plus intemporels les uns que les autres:

"Rollin & Scratchin" produit par Thomas himself et Guyman près de 15 ans auparavant, "Signatune" de Dj Mehdi (l'edit de Bangalter evidemment) et enfin "Rasperry Beret" de Prince.

Et comme on pouvait s'y attendre, Bangalter a déchainé le publique du Cinespace de Los Angeles.

En plus de Thomas Bangalter, le Ed Rec crew au complet ainsi qu'A-trak ont pris pas part à cette soirée d'antologie.

Apprécier ce soleil d'avril sur mon sympathique quartier cette après-midi, avec un simple sweat et mes lunettes de soleil...les premiers jours de printemps ont toujours étés une renaissance pour moi!
